I had four (or three depending on how you look at it) things on my desk this morning:
Two court orders for phone intercepts (could count as two things)...
One court order for review to make sure it will pass muster between myself and the phone company...
A DVD that a local investigator wants me to look at to see if I can get a facial picture of the bad guy...
All this and I have Two questions out ref intercepts.. one to a DET. about , is he going to renew an expired intercept...
One to the telco about one that has stopped giving data....
AND.. of course.. the boys asking me questions about this, that and the other things.....

They give me cell records and I look up the cell sites and map them. We will then have a meeting and see how the data correlates with his story etc.
It's basically grunt work, but if it comes to testimony, I'd have to sit in the chair and explain how cell sites work ref sectors and RF theory and why if he was hitting particular towers he had to be in a particular place or couldn't be in a particular other place etc.

I have another question I've been hanging onto -- was thinking maybe you could answer it -- that derives from the Morgan Harrington case:
The man being looked for from the incident in Fairfax... in the Fairfax attack, he allegedly abducted the unnamed woman beforehand. If he is also the same man who murdered Harrington... Harrington was allegedly hitchhiking, right? So does that make a charge of abduction legally unfeasible?

Hypothetically: Miss Harrington was hitchhiking. Man -- who already has at least one assault to his name -- picks her up. There is a dispute, things go wrong, whatever; she ends up dead. Because she willingly got in the car in the first place, does that mean he cannot be charged with abduction?

Tough to prove... without the complaining victim or any type of evidence of her being forced to be with him, I doubt the commwealth would even bring the charge.
Even if someone voluntarily goes with someone anywhere... once that person restrains you from leaving it can be considered a kidnapping or restraint or what have you.. I'd have to look up the code... I think there are several ways you could charge it.

law-enforcement officer in the performance of his duty. The terms
"abduction" and "kidnapping" shall be synonymous in this Code.
Abduction for which no punishment is otherwise prescribed shall be

person abducted and punishable as contempt of court in any proceeding
then pending, the offense shall be a Class 1 misdemeanor in addition
